Yes, Alabama has a ski resort! Located on Lookout Mountain in northeastern Alabama, they bill themselves as the “southeastern most ski resort in the US.” We’re not sure if that’s a good thing or not but for those that live in northern Alabama, southeastern Tennessee or northwestern Georgia, this is a fun little ski location. They have two one-thousand foot, beginner-intermediate slopes with “pony lifts (tow rope with handles)” to take you to the top. For beginners, they have instructors that will get you skiing quick. Skis, boots, poles, and snow boards are available for rent in the Ski Lodge. Needless to say “weather permitting” is the key phrase here. If it’s 28 or below, they’ll be blowing snow. The best place to check conditions is their Facebook page. There is lodging available as Cloudmont offers a variety of chalets and cabin rentals year round, along the Golf Course, Ski Slope, and Little River.

Cost
Adult pricing starts at $24 for a half day and you have your own equipment up to $65 for a day-time pass and you need to rent equipment. There are discounts for students and children under 12. Check the website for specific times and costs.
